Meeting Structure

Lighting of the Candle - Light the candle and say “Light of Christ”. The Response is “Thanks be to God”.

Opening Prayer to the Holy Spirit - A team member is chosen to lead the prayer.

Tent of Meeting - Animator chooses quote before and hands out a copy to each member. After that everyone sits alone separately for 15 minutes in silence. This is a special time of conversation with God; you and Him talking and learning about each other. He speaks to you both through the written Word and through your heart, you must learn to listen. There is no Tent of Meeting for the open teams.

Sharing of Life - Everyone takes a turn to share something significant that happened to them in the past month. Since we’re forming a small little community it’s nice to get to know each other a little more.

Prayer with the Bible - Use the same quote as tent of meeting. The animator reads the whole quote, and then reads a sentence or one word that struck them, saying a prayer from the heart in contemplation of that one word or sentence. Then the bible is passed around, and each person does the same, without reading the whole passage. Team members are not obligated at first to say this spontaneous prayer, but later on they should grow into doing it.

Rule of Life - Everyone goes around choosing a specific thing they want to do to improve their spiritual life. Things like tent of meeting, Sunday Mass, confession once a month (minimum) and for high school prayer with family are not options because they should already be doing those things. The things that should be chosen are a daily task and something for service.

Intercession Prayer - At this time during the meeting, going around in a circle, each team member prays for the person (and their rule of life) whose name they have chosen and for whom they will be praying for the month. Once each person has been prayed for, team members can spontaneously bring up special intentions that may have come up in people's lives during the month. Since each person is different their prayer is a little bit different. Each person has their own special gift of prayer. And each month, someone in the group needs your unique and special gift of prayer to help them. You’re listening to each other and then you’re taking this persons difficulties and challenges and bringing them before God, interceding for that person.

Rosary - Placing our petitions in the hands of our beautiful Mother Mary, we pray a decade of the Rosary. A team member is asked to select a mystery and introduce that mystery. Going around in a circle, each person then leads a 'Hail Mary'.

Topic - We have a topic because we want to get to know God better. Each of us have to take the time and make the effort to learn more about your faith. This means to read and research, to ask questions and look for answers. If you want to know what the whole point of something is, then you have to take the time to dig deep and search. It is also each Catholic’s responsibility to continually get to know their faith a little better. So to help you on that path, each month we do a topic.

Announcements - Any events, especially organized service that the team is doing or messages from the secretariat should be announced. Also retreats or things like the May Ceremony. Many times animators don’t inform their team of the events going on and in turn not as many people show up to them.

Extinguishing of the Candle - Blow out the candle and say “Light of Christ”. The Response is “May it remain with us now and forever
